I. General information

What is a service migration?

A service migration refers to transferring the services of one registrar onto another. As such, we will essentially be moving your domain data, currently housed with the Minds + Machines registrar, to the Uniregistry platform, which will then host the same information.  Uniregistry will effectively become your new registrar.

Why is it happening?

The migration is happening because the company that owns the Minds + Machines registrar, Minds + Machines Group Limited, completed a full strategic review of its operations and concluded that running a consumer-facing registrar is not aligned with its strategy of being a marketing-led owner of top-level domains. A full review was also carried out to best match the needs of Minds + Machines’ registrar customers with those of a third party registrar. As a result of that process, the award-winning Uniregistry platform, a member of the Uniregistry family (www.uniregistry.com), was selected.

When will the migration occur?

On July 19, 2016 the management of your domains will switch from Minds + Machines to Uniregistry.com. We at Uniregistry are excited to have you as a new customer, and we look forward helping you make a smooth transition.

What will I have to do to protect/retain my domain name(s)?

Currently, no action is required. Once everything is ready, we will be fully notifying you on what to do. In the interim, please rest assured that your domain name is secure and will be safely transferred to your new account with Uniregistry when the migration takes place.

Can I opt out of the service migration process for my domain name(s)?

Yes, you will be able to opt out of the service migration to Uniregistry if you wish. To do so you will need to transfer your domain(s) to another ICANN accredited registrar that supports the relevant top-level domain. Keep in mind though, when transferring to a new registrar, you may be required to purchase an additional year of renewal.

For a list of registrars supporting MMX owned or managed top-level domains, please see click here.  Please be sure to double check with your new registrar that they carry your extensions (i.e., .fashion, .london and so on).

What will happen to my Email BETA Product and/or Weebly web services?

If you purchased Email BETA or Weebly web service through mindsandmachines.com, please stay tuned for future notifications to help guide you through the migration process.

How will my costs compare with Uniregistry?

Uniregistry is competitively priced with mindsandmachines.com as well as other registrars. You may click here to view Uniregistry’s pricing.

What will happen to the Affiliate Program?

The existing Minds + Machines registrar affiliate program will be wound down and those affected will be emailed with a full notification. In the interim, please note that Uniregistry has its own Affiliate Program. Please click here for more details.

If I am a join.law customer, how will I be impacted?

As a join.law customer, you will remain with join.law as your reseller registrar. No action is required of you at this time.

II. What do I need to do?

What do I need to do to assist with this service migration?

We only ask that you do one thing before the service migration: write down the email address you used to create your Minds + Machines user account. You will need to use the same email address to create your new Uniregistry account. Once Uniregistry verifies your identity with the email address, your domain names registrations will automatically move to Uniregistry on the transition date.

What if I already have a Uniregistry account?

If you already have a Uniregistry account, you only need to verify that the email address associated with your Uniregistry account and the email for your Minds + Machines account match. If they don’t match, please create a new Uniregistry account to match the account address to your Minds + Machines account address, or vice versa. As long as the email addresses match on the day before the migration, you will see your Minds + Machines domain names inside your Uniregistry on the day of the migration.

How can I be assured that all of my domain names will move?

Uniregistry will be using a duplicate set of records from Minds + Machines, identical to the data set that existed just prior to the service migration. The data set will not change. The only change will be the service provider. If you have any concerns, please print a record of your domain name registrations prior to the migration date and compare it to the records inside your Uniregistry account after the migration. They should be identical. If you note any discrepancies, Uniregistry will have email and live telephone support during and after the service migration.

Will my service be interrupted? Will my website stop resolving? Will I miss any email?

No, no, and no. The DNS settings for your domain names will be published throughout the migration. Nothing will change in the service migration.

What will happen to my DNS and account settings?

The DNS settings for your domains, along with the account details such as registered name holder, administrative contact, technical contact and billing contact will remain the same.

III. Existing products and services

Will I lose all of my emails when Email BETA is removed?

If you have purchased an email mailbox through Minds + Machines, you will no longer have access to the mailbox upon deletion of the product. We strongly encourage you to download and archive or forward your messages onto a different mailbox so that you do not lose any important emails or information that may be stored in your mailbox currently provided by Minds + Machines. You will be notified of the date of deletion to ensure that you are given ample time to collect all of your current emails stored.

Will I no longer own my email address?

Unique email addresses created by your domain name will no longer be offered through Minds + Machines. You can create one through any type of web hosting service or email provider of your choice.

Will I lose my live website when Weebly is canceled by Minds + Machines?

Weebly is a partner of Minds + Machines, so you will have the ability to transfer your account over to their platform, meaning your site may not be at risk of deletion if you create an account within the Weebly platform.
